the road trip: Carmel Valley’s Tancredi & Morgan (with a stop at the Wagon Wheel restaurant!)

Carmel is always an amazing place to visit. Beautiful shops, storybook homes, gorgeous beaches, and delicious places to dine. But another fun place to check out is a few minutes drive from Ocean Avenue. Take Carmel Valley Road past the Quail Lodge and turn into the parking lot at  the Wagon Wheel Restaurant  (more on that later). Pull in here, park, and go straight into one of  the most amazing stores around. Tancredi & Morgen  is like walking into a European shop mixed with finds from the both the west and east coasts. It’s a place where you will find hotel silverware, antique furniture alongside vintage textiles and current coffee table books. Succulents, notecards and the most incredible linens and glasses make this store a place where you could easily loose track of time. The plank floors, friendly owners and constant stream of locals stopping by to chat, make this stop feel like you never want to leave!

No visit to Carmel is complete without breakfast at the Wagon Wheel in Carmel Valley. This is truly a special spot. Locally owned since the 1960’s and loved by locals and visitors alike, you will find the atmosphere warm and friendly. And, bonus, you might just have a star sighting! It’s cash only, so plan ahead! (ps. the French Toast is unbelievable!)
